Cookies Policy

This notice, issued by Rule Components S.r.l. pursuant to article 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and to the guidelines of the Italian Data Protection Authority of 10 June 2021, describes the cookies and similar technologies used on www.rulecomponents.com and explains how to manage your consent. It supplements the Privacy Policy, which should be consulted for the Controller’s details, your rights and the other processing purposes.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that the websites you visit send to your device, where they are stored and then sent back to those same websites on your next visit. Similar technologies, such as web beacons, tracking pixels, local storage and fingerprinting scripts, can achieve equivalent results and are subject to the same rules. On this page the term “cookies” covers all of these technologies.

Cookies may be first-party, where they are installed by the operator of the website, or third-party, where they are installed by other parties. By duration, a distinction is drawn between session cookies, which are deleted when the browser is closed, and persistent cookies, which remain stored until they expire or are deleted by the user.

2. Technical cookies (no consent required)

These are necessary for the website to work and for the delivery of the services requested by the user. Under article 122 of Legislative Decree 196/2003 they do not require consent and cannot be disabled through the banner. This category includes:

• navigation cookies, which allow the site and its reserved areas to be used properly;

• authentication and session cookies, which keep the user recognised during the visit;

• shopping cart cookies, which retain the selected products until the order is completed;

• security cookies, which protect against automated attacks and attempted fraud;

• preference cookies, which store choices such as language, shipping country or currency;

• cookies recording the choices made in the banner, so that it is not shown again on every page.

Disabling these cookies through your browser settings may prevent the website from working properly, including the purchase process.

3. Analytics cookies

These allow aggregate information to be collected on the number of visitors and on how the website is used. Third-party analytics cookies, such as those generated by Google Analytics, are installed only after the user has given consent through the banner and remain disabled until then. Legal basis: consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Where the service is configured so that data cannot be cross-referenced with other processing operations and the IP address is masked, analytics cookies may be treated as equivalent to technical cookies in accordance with the guidance of the Italian Data Protection Authority; in that case this is indicated in the consent management panel.

4. Profiling and marketing cookies

These are used to build user profiles and to display advertising in line with the preferences shown while browsing, including on third-party websites. They are installed only after express consent has been given, through the banner or the preference panel. Legal basis: consent (art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Consent may be withdrawn at any time as described in section 6.

5. Third-party cookies

Some services integrated into the website install their own cookies, in respect of which the relevant providers act as independent data controllers. Rule Components S.r.l. has no access to the data collected by those parties and does not control the purposes for which it is used. Their privacy notices and opt-out tools are available on the providers’ websites. The services currently integrated, together with their purposes, are listed in the consent management panel, which states for each cookie its name, provider, purpose and duration.

These include Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Ltd., used to record in aggregate form the pages visited, session duration and other browsing metrics. Google’s privacy notice is available at policies.google.com/privacy; the opt-out browser add-on is available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

6. Managing your consent

On your first visit a banner is displayed allowing you to accept all cookies, to reject them all with an equally immediate action, or to select individual categories. Until you have made a choice, only technical cookies are installed. Closing the banner using the reject control, or continuing to browse without having given consent, does not amount to acceptance.

Your preferences can be changed or withdrawn at any time through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of the website. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. Unless otherwise stated, the banner is shown again six months after your last choice.

7. Managing cookies through your browser

Alternatively, you can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions are available on the support pages of the main browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari and Opera. Please note that deleting cookies through the browser also removes the record of the preferences you expressed in the banner, which will therefore be shown again on your next visit.
